Exotic Roots celebrated its one-year anniversary at the beginning of October with partners and customers in the new building in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel. There was a toast to this milestone while enjoying champagne and tasty snacks.

The young company is growing rapidly and is working on the next (foreign) steps. One of the projects has its roots in Kenya. They have recently been here to visit growers, view products and processes and discuss the options for growing red rawit in-house, which will be harvested year-round from the end of November. In collaboration with Jami Trading, Exotic Roots will supply red rawit all year round, for both retail and wholesale. The two companies are joining forces to make this a success.

Tim Struckman: “Jami Trading is an expert in cultivation and logistics in Kenya; through the collaboration with Exotic Roots, which sells a lot of peppers, we expect to be able to supply a large part of the market with competitively priced, fresh and certified peppers. We see a lot of opportunities in the pepper market.”

The first shipment is expected in week 47. In addition to red rawit, Exotic Roots also specializes in supplying both ripe and unripe jackfruit and other exotics from countries such as India, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Spain.
